Individual guidance with drawing and painting using pastels
and oils (other mediums welcome). Students are encouraged
to express their sense of emotion and develop their
personal expression of their subject matter. Bring a
desired photo and medium of choice. Pastels are the
instructors’ specialty. Demonstrations of pastel techniques
will be shown. Supply list for pastel painting are as
follows:
Basic assortment of Pastels- instructor will recommend
others in class if needed
Vine charcoal
Kneaded eraser
Mitientis paper; toned in warm grey or moonstone
(Other papers will be recommended in class)

Wednesdays,
Starts September 15, 2010; will run 4 week sessions
through June

am to 12:00 pm
Working from a Live Model, students will draw the portrait
and the figure learning gestures with individual guidance.
There will also be an instructional breakdown of the human
head and of the figure. Please bring a large drawing pad,
soft vine charcoal, charcoal pencils and mitientis paper
and portrait set of pastels. “Drawing is the Mother,
Painting is the Child.”
Cost: $80.00 for 4 weeks

Individual guidance with drawing and painting scenery using
pastels and oils, will allow students to express their
sense of emotion and develop their personal expression of
the landscape. Bring a desired photo and supplies in either
pastels or oils. On weather permitting days in the spring
and fall, the class will have the oportunity to do plein
aire (outdoors) painting. Demonstrations of pastel
techniques and oil techniques will be shown. Email for

Study the structure of the face, head, figure, hands and
feet. Instructor will demonstrate the breakdown of the body
parts, and you will then do studies through gestures and
drawings. Choose to work in black and white or in color.
Supply list as follows:
Basic assortment of Pastels including flesh tones
Vine charcoal
Charcoal pencils - light, medium, dark and white
Kneaded eraser
Drawing Pad size 18 x 24
Mitientis paper; toned in warm grey or moonstone - optional
