"Kuerner Hill" is the famous hill that was painted by Andrew Wyeth, and it belongs to the Kuerner Family Farm in Chadds Ford, PA. "I was always very inspired by the life and the history of Andrew Wyeth. Shortly after having my second child, my husband and I went on the Nathaniel Wyeth's home tour in Chadds Ford, PA, and from that day on I have been connected to the energy of the Wyeth family. A few years later I ended up taking classes at the Darlington Arts Center in Boothwyn, PA, where I studied under Karl Kuerner, to later realize that he was a well-known Brandywine Valley artist who was mentored by Andrew Wyeth. I now consider him a mentor of my own." - Annette Alessi

The "Paulownia Tree" painted with pastels is a rare tree found on the the grounds of the Community Arts Center in Wallingford, Pennsylvania. As this pastel original was in the process of being framed, the framer liked it so much that she bought the original for herself. "I was so honored to have the owner of a gallery and frame shop admire a piece of my art so much that she purchased it for herself for $500.00." - Annette Alessi

"Every day I drive by this area of woods as I take my children around town back and forth for their activities, and I just love how the suns light shines on the rocks in the stream. This very loseley done pastel was created in Broomall, Pennsylvania en plein aire while with a group of fellow artists. " During this outdoor paint day, I brought my younger son, Tommy age 4, with me. Since his attention span was pretty short, I was forced to paint very quickly. This is when I produce some of my best works. The Barn at the Natural Land Trust original sold at the Chadds Ford Elementary Arts Sale on March 17, 2007." - Annette Alessi

"The Hedgerow Theatre"

The Hedgerow Theatre is located in Rose Valley Borough, Media, Pennsylvania. This theatre was built in 1923 and is still active with performances to this day. " I used pastels for this piece and a paper called "mitienise" paper in a taupe color, which formed the building in the painting. So there is no paint or color of any sort in the area where the face of the building appears. Just a few textured accents."- Annette Alessi

Across from the Hedgerow Theatre, this building is also historic and is located in Rose Valley Borough, Media. Pennsylvania. Many weddings are held here today. "I used a paper called mitientise paper with a cream tone to create the stucco faced building. It really helps the building to pop. I enjoy doing historical buildings, since they give off much character." - Annette Alessi

"Newlin Mills Waterfall"

This waterfall is located at The Newlin Grist Mills Park in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, a 1704 grist mill and 150-acre park. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the only working grist mill in Pennsylvania. The mill was originally built by Nicholas Newlin, a Quaker who obtained a 500 acre grant from William Penn. He brought his family to Pennsylvania from Ireland and built two water-powered mills along Chester Creek. "It's one of my favorite local areas to paint." - Annette Alessi
